Sbarro – SM Megamall

Yesterday, I finally sold my airsoft gun for my daughter’s tuition. I know it was not much but I needed all the resources I could gather, and additionally, I would like to thank you (you know who you are) for helping me out close the deal with the buyers. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thanks for helping out! *hugs*

After the said deal, we went back to Ortigas to store and leave some of the unsold items and headed to SM Megamall. We decided to eat but we were again unsure of what to eat, so we did “draw lots” The pick was originally for Wendy’s but we went to Sbarro instead (you’d think that we shouldn’t have done draw lots eh? XD We thought so too…)

Anyways, as we stepped inside the said restaurant, we were courteously greeted but my eyes were already glued on to their pizzas, most especially their White pizza, again let me reiterate to you all that I’m a pizza-lover, and would kill for a slice – kidding Smile with tongue out… but yes, I ordered one slice of it as the pull of temptation was too strong (LOL). On the other hand, he got himself a slice of Pepperoni pizza. We also got a Blueberry cheesecake and a Tiramisu. For our drinks, I got a glass of Lemonade and he got a glass of Coke soda.

Here were our orders:

White Pizza
(garlic, ricotta, mozzarella)
Serving choices: Slice Php 85.00, Whole Php 510.00
P130511_16.39_[01]

Pepperoni Pizza
(mozzarella, Sbarro recipe pepperoni)
Serving choices: Slice Php 110.00, Whole Php 660.00
P130511_16.39

Mama Sbarro’s Original Recipe NY-Style Cheesecake
(blueberry, mango, cherry or chocolate toppings)
Php 76.00
P130511_16.38

Tiramisu
(Everyone’s favorite Italian dessert!)
Php 63.00
P130511_16.54

Food experience: Overall, I’d give it a 3 out of 5. I was not able to finish the White pizza since I was too full. Taste wise, it’s not really something new to me nor something really out of the ordinary. I was also able to taste the Pepperoni pizza and I’m also good with the flavor but there wasn’t really the “oomph” and the “wow”. I’m not too amazed with their cheesecake either, it was too creamy unlike other cheesecakes I’ve tried but since I love cheesecake and blueberry, I still gobbled it up. Smile with tongue out  As for the tiramisu, it could have been better if it was served chilled (unless we got the one that was not yet cold?)

Another thing I noticed was, personally, I think they have too much staff. They have separate people for the pizzas, separate people for the breads, separate people for the entrées, separate people for the salad, separate people for the drinks (which I really think shouldn’t be necessary), and separate people for the cashier. I understand that this would delegate task efficiently for each employee and to make sure that someone is manning each station, however, this might pose a problem in communication. But if it works for them, then it means that it’s effective.

How about you? What’s your experience with Sbarro?

Don Henrico’s – SM Mall of Asia

I was seriously not in a good mood due to a lot of unfortunate events, mainly emotional issues, and this has lead me to go on food tripping. At first, I wanted to go to Tong Yang for an eat-all-you-can treat in Jupiter Street, but they were closed that time, which was around 2:00pm. So we decided to go to SM Mall of Asia (MoA) and there we looked for a place to splurge. After few rounds inside the mall, we gave ourselves 3 options: Gerry’s Grill, Tia Maria’s, and Don Henrico’s. To settle this, we did draw lots, and finally went to Don Henrico’s.

Ambiance was nice and it felt cozy maybe because we occupied the cushioned seats which are by the way, great for families and friends. We were greeted courteously and the servers were friendly and accommodating. It took us almost 5 minutes (or more) to decide on what to order, and finally we ordered 3 dishes in their menu:

Under Antipasti:
Petite Mozzarella Sticks (Php175.00)
Deep-fried mozzarella cheese coated with crumbs, served with their Marinara sauce
Petite Mozzarella Sticks

Under Salads:
Caesar’s Salad
Serving Choices: Php160.00 share; Php280.00 family
(We got the “share” serving choice)
Crisp lettuce, Caesar dressing, roasted garlic chips, tomato, olives, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, crisp bacon crumbles and croutons
Caesar's Salad

Under Pizza’s:
Don Henrico’s Supreme Pizza
Size choices: 10″ Php280.00, 14″ Php540.00, 18″ Php790.00
(We got the 10″ one)
Their very own creation: Pepperoni, beef, ham, mushroom, pineapple tidbits, onion, bell pepper and black olives
Don Henrico's Supreme Pizza

For our drinks we got 2 Coke Light (Php40.00 each) and 2 Grape Juice (Php60.00 each).

All in all, the bill totaled at Php815.00.

Food experience: It was my first time eating their pizza and being a pizza lover, I loved the marinara sauce used. It’s sweet with a bit of tang. I’d go for their pizza anytime compared to other restaurants (but then again, I haven’t really tried the other pizza flavors, so let’s wait and see.) For now, this pizza was the best pizza for me. Not too cheesy, sauce was great, toppings were all well cooked and seasoned.

I was not able to finish my share as I was too full but it was indeed a great experience especially when you’re with someone special.
